Independent Film Festival
REFLET MEDICIS and L'ARLEQUIN

From 27 November to 4 December two Paris cinemas, the Reflet Médicis and L'Arlequin, are running premiers of international independent films within the framework of the annual Paris International Cinema Festival (Rencontres Internationales de Cinéma à Paris).
The audience can speak their minds by voting for the films they liked best. The winner gets a special Le Grand Prix du Public.
This year the festival is marked by the presence of Todd Haynes, the celebrated American film director.
Telethon 2007
PARIS ET TOUTE LA FRANCE

It's common knowledge that television is a powerful force. Luckily, it can be not only destructive but also constructive. One of the best charitable projects aimed to raise money for the people suffering from genetic disorders is the annual Telethon. Initially intended as an event to demonstrate media solidarity, the Telethon has become a genuine institution over the past 21 years.
The goal of the Telethon is to inform the public about rare diseases, which are insufficiently studied. Donors are welcome to raise funds for the Telethon, the total amount of which will be counted in Paris.
The event involves not only Paris capital, but also villages and towns all over the country.
Don't miss a chance to participate in the Telethon on 7 and 8 December.
Musical Cocktail
THEATRE DES CHAMPS-ELYSEES

The sisters Marielle and Katia Labeque are talented pianists who perform classical and contemporary musical pieces playing two pianos. The ladies are not afraid to experiment mixing such genres as jazz, chamber music, music hall...
The sisters have different musical tastes, so the music they make is very eclectic. Marielle is fond of chamber music while Katia likes jazz, and that allows the pianists to create a wonderful cocktail of Brahms, Gershwin, Messiaen and Bernstein.
The Labeque sisters managed to win the hearts of the audience as well as the critics' ones. They performed with such artists as Chick Corea, Seiji Ozawa, Marial Solal and Jacques Higelin.
The concert in Paris is following the most successful shows in San Francisco, Stuttgart and New York.
The sisters will give a show at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées on 9 December. A must- visit!

Some people say that horses are the most gracious animals in the world. In fact that's not far from the truth. Come and check it out!
From 1 to 9 December Paris Expo Porte de Versailles will give you a plenty of chances to do it. Horses of all kinds - Friesians, Frisons, Lusitaniens, Lipizzans, Boulonnais draught horses, Percherons, as well as ponies and donkeys, will take part in the numerous events organized by the 36th edition of the"Salon du Cheval de Paris".
You will be able to learn a lot of things concerning looking after horses, horse equipment, horse breeding...and also to enjoy numerous shows: a parade through the streets of the capital, the Paris International Equestrian Competition, the "Nuit du cheval" show and the Arab horse world championship.
Besides, numerous events, like pony riding and equestrian lessons, will be organized especially for the kids.
Tannhauser
OPERA BASTILLE

"Tannhauser Und Der Sangerkrieg Auf Der Wartburg"("Tannhauser" in short) is a famous opera by Richard Wagner. The story tells us about torment of the hero (Stephen Gould), who cannot make a choice between his pure love towards Elisabeth (Eva-Maria Westbroek) and lecherous way of life of the pagan gods.
The opera is conducted by Seiji Ozawa (except the last two performances - on 27 & 30 December, which will be led by Pierre Vallet). The virtuosic conducting on a par with the splendid singing and brilliant performance of the actors make Robert Carsen's show one of the most important and interesting musical events of the Paris opera life.
A must-see!
MC Solaar in Paris

MC Solaar is one of the most famous French rappers in the world. Claude M'Barali was born in Senegal but when the kid was just 6 months old, his family moved to France. Before Claude started his musical career and chose a nickname MC Solaar, he studied languages and philosophy, what results in his outstanding lyrics.
The single "Bouge de là" made him popular in France and pretty soon the musician took the audience by storm. Up to the moment MC Solaar released 7 albums, each of which was a success.
From 6 to 12 December he is giving concerts in the French capital. The rapper will perform the songs from his latest album, which appears to be one of the most personal of all his creations.

If you are fond of circus, you'll certainly enjoy a visit to the Cirque Arlette Gruss, which is glad to introduce a new program titled "Pile ou Face". The colourful and captivating shows featuring clowns, acrobats and all kinds of animals are taking place from 30 November to 16 December.
