Family Christmas Mass in the Eglise St-Germain-des-Pres

Christmas is awaited both by adults and kids. The oldest church in Paris, the Eglise St-Germain-des-Pres, is holding the traditional Christmas Mass, in the course of which the youngsters will be able to learn lots of interesting things about the feast.
The church was originally constructed in the 6th century as a Benedictine monastery. During the French Revolution it was partly destroyed and due to that fact much of the interior of the Eglise St-Germain-des-Pres was renovated. Luckily, the remnant of the original cloister still remain.

Christmas is undoubtedly associated with beautiful and richly decorated fir trees. Every year hundreds of them are installed in Paris to bring the spirit of holiday and fun to the French capital. They are particularly impressive at night when thousands of lights are on, illuminating everything around.
This year about 1000 evergreen beauties are placed in the city, concentrating mainly in the neighbourhood of the Champs-Elysees and the Place de la Bastille, although other districts of the capital also got their share of the fir trees.
All the fir trees are grown specially for the occasion in the Jura, so the tradition of installing fir trees in the city doesn't cause damage to the environment.

If you answer positively, you'll certainly like the musical "Bharati" that will be run at the Palais des Congres de Paris from 17 January to 2 February. The show is back after a year's break. In 2006 "Bharati" premiered in Paris and hit a great success.
The staging is a very spectacular one: 70 artists, 800 costumes, giant screen, modern and classical dances, Indian movie songs...The main theme is of course love. Bharati and Siddharta long to be together but Bharati's father is against their relationships...what will happen to the loving hearts? Odilon Redon: The Works

Odilon Redon is a famous French painter. He started drawing as a young child, and at the age of 10 he was awarded a drawing prize at school. At age 15, he began a study in drawing but on the insistence of his father he turned to architecture. His failure to pass the entrance exams at Paris' École des Beaux-Arts ended his plans for a career as an architect. Redon returned to his native Bordeaux and got interested in sculpture. He was guided by Rodolphe Bresdin who instructed him in etching and lithography.
After the end of the war he moved to Paris, working almost exclusively in charcoal and lithography. In 1878 his work gained recognition and he published his first album of lithographs, titled Dans le Rêve in 1879. Still, Redon remained relatively unknown until the appearance in 1884 of a cult novel by Joris-Karl Huysmans titled, A rebours (Against Nature). The story featured a decadent aristocrat who collected Redon's drawings. In the 1890s he began to use pastel and oils, which dominated his works for the rest of his life.
Musee d'Orsay is hosting an exhibition devoted to Redon's creative work of the period until the 1890. The basis of the exhibition are fine charcoal sketchings. Famous as well as little known works are on display.
