Starwood might sell its French hotels
Starwood Capital Group might sell a group of its hotels to an investor from Saudi Arabia.

Starwood Capital Group might sell a group of its hotels to an investor from Saudi Arabia. The Group is currently in talks with JJW Hotels & Resorts concerning the sale of several Concorde hotels. Starwood owns 12 properties through Concorde Groupe while JJW has around 60 hotels in Europe.
The deal could include hotels in Cannes, Nice and the French capital - Paris: Lutetia and the Concorde La Fayette. At the same time, two renowned properties in the capital - Hôtel du Louvre and Hôtel de Crillon - will not be included. The management of the hotels is expected to be retained and therefore, there will be no job losses.
First Peninsula in Paris
Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels Ltd (HSH), the managing company for Peninsula hotels, will open the first Penunsula property in Paris.

Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels Ltd (HSH), the managing company for Peninsula hotels, together with Qatari Diar will open the first Penunsula property in Paris. The hotel will occupy the 1908 building which formerly housed the Majestic hotel. At the moment there is the International Conference centre located here.
Reconstruction will start in 2009 and finish by the beginning of 2012. When opened the hotel will offer 200 rooms and suites, each equipped with modern technology. And of course you can expect the excellent service Peninsula is known for.
Accor is doing fine
Despite the economic downturn, Accor and its brands are doing ok.

Despite the economic downturn, Accor and its brands are doing ok. For instance, Ibis, the budget hotel chain with a total of 375 properties, has increased 2,5 % in France, according to the RevPAR.
In France the growth of Accor budget hotels (including such brands as All Seasons, Ibis, Etap Hotel, Formule 1 etc) has risen as high as 1,2 %. Things are a bit worse for top and mid category hotels, including Sofitel, Pullman, Novotel and others - it is 3,6 % down.
All in all Accor's turnover in the 4th quarter of 2008 has not changed from that in 2007.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. announced plans to open the first W hotel in Paris. Set to open in 2011, W Paris-Opéra will be located in the prestigious Opéra area, surrounded by many dining options, trendy boutiques and night clubs. The property will occupy a 1870s building in the proximity to such city attractions as Place Vendome and Galleries Lafayette.
Guests will find accommodation in 90 rooms and pampered at such facilities as a restaurant and bar, fitness and spa centre. W Paris-Opéra will also feature a lounge to communicate with other guests and have rest in a relaxing atmosphere.
The list of Starwood hotels in Paris currently includes such properties as The Westin Paris, Le Méridien Montparnasse, Hotel Prince de Galles - Paris Champs Elysees, Le Méridien Etoile and Sheraton Paris Airport Hotel & Conference Centre.

Hotels and Preference, the French hotel chain which includes more than 130 top independent hotels around the world, has once again released its Le Guide Millésime 2009-2010. This year there are several addittions to the chain's hotels list as well as a number of upgrades which prove its constant enhancement. One of such is Hotel Astor Saint-Honore in Paris which has changed its status to Platinum as an evidence of its high-quality service.
