One has to admit that despite the devastating psychological effects that absinthe had on some French in the beginning of the 20th century, it has also greatly influenced many artistic personalities. Paul Verlaine, Charles Baudelaire, Toulouse Lautrec, George Sand, brothers Goncourt - all of them drank this herbal spirit, often called "The Green Fairy" (probably because of the effects it has on human mind). Current exhibition at the Musée Montmartre focuses on the drink, its production, rituals, historic influence and prohibition in 1915. The exhibition is a result of the collaboration between several museums, including the Museum of Absinthe in Auvers-sur-Oise, and Museum of Pontarlier. Opened until June 30.
