Anti-smog an eco-friendly building in Paris
The brainchild of Vincent Callebaut.

Smog is the common disaster big cities suffer from. However, an architect from France Vincent Callebaut suggests his own idea of how to overcome this problem. One of Callebaut's projects is called "Anti Smog: An Innovation Centre in Sustainable Development". The centre will contain public galleries, meeting rooms and gathering spaces, but the main feature is its "smog killing" design.
This is how it works. The building exterior is fitted with 250 square meters of solar photovoltaic panels and coated in titanium dioxide (TiO2), which "works with ultraviolet radiation to interact with particulates in the air, break down organics and reduce airborne pollutants and contaminants." This will help get rid of the smog produced by Paris vehicles. In addition to this, the building will collect water from green space on the roof to use it inside. The second building, called the "Wind Tower", will capture urban winds. This complex will be located over the Parisian canal.

Paris airport terminal reopens

Terminal 2E at Charles de Gaulle international airport reopened on Sunday. It happened nearly four years after part of its roof collapsed.
According to French radio the first passengers arriving at the newly opened terminal building were from New Delhi.
This terminal was closed just several weeks after its opening, when the roof collapsed killing 4 people. The investigation showed that it happed because of a number of structural errors in the design. The structure was completely torn down and replaced, that cost some 130 million euros (200 million dollars).

Paris is still number one travel destination in the world, although, like the rest of Europe, it suffers from too high euro.

Paris is still number one travel destination in the world, although, like the rest of Europe, it suffers from too high euro.
The number of tourists staying a night in a Paris hotel in 2007 rose 1 percent to about 8.8 million people. However, due to weak dollar the number of the tourists from the US has fallen 5.5 percent.
The largest increases came from Russia, China and Brazil. Rugby World Cup held in the autumn contributed a lot to the success of the hotel industry. For example the amount of British tourists rose 10 percent.
African and Oceanian Art. Masterpieces of the Barbier-Muller Collection

Paris is among the cities with the largest number of the art masterpieces in the world, and these masterpieces are not only French. The collection Barbier-Muller, the most beautiful private collection of African and Oceanian art can now be seen in Musee Jacquemart-Andre. The exhibition celebrates the 100th anniversary of this collection belonging to the Swissman Jean-Paul Barbier-Muller.
The collection contains around 100 objects of art (statues, masks, pendents, totems, headdresses, crests, swords, sceptres...), and some unusual items such as the Nigerian 12th century "Horseman Sceptre". This collection is exhibited till 24 August.

For the third time the Grand Palais is hosting an exhibition devoted to modern and contemporary art. On display are works by the renowned painters and those making the first steps in the art world.
"Artparis" gives a chance to discover creations brought from 14 galleries all over the world. For a five-day period the art-lovers will be able to admire the works of French and foreign painters: this year the show focuses on the art of the Arab world.
The event is of great interest to art professionals and art amateurs. Dive in the atmosphere of the beautiful at the Grand Palais from 3 to 7 April!

Alicia Keys, the young R'n'B and soul star , became popular after releasing the song "Falling" that topped all the world pop charts in 2001. Up to the moment the Alicia's discography counts three albums. But the pretty American is not only a singer. She's also an actress (miss Keys starred in a film by Joe Carnahan), a producer, and a writer (her novel "Tears For Water" was published in 2004).
