Jean-Honore Fragonard: The Illustrations
Jean-Honoré Fragonard (1732-1806) is one of the greatest painters in the history of the world art. Despite this fact, no major exhibitions of his works were held in France for more than twenty years. That's why the admirers of art should not miss the event run by the Jacquemart-André Museum from 3 October 2007 to 13 January 2008. Commemorating the bicentenary of the painter's death, the museum presents a collection of Fragonard's works. The exhibition focuses on the illustrations that usually stay in the shade of the author's paintings. Jean-Honoré Fragonard was a subtle observer and a keen psychologist, his works brilliantly reflect all the peculiarities of the eighteenth century, so they are both of art and historical value.
Important to mention that Marie-Anne Dupuy-Vachey, an art historian and author of two books on Fragonard, is the curator of the exhibition.
