Chocolate Dream

Real chocoholics shouldn't miss this event. The large convention center beneath the Louvre houses an annual festival in celebration of chocolate. The exhibition doesn't not only give a possibility to try the delicious works of chocolate art (such as truffles, chocolate-dipped fruit kebabs, hot chocolate and cakes) but also to learn interesting facts from the history of this sweet treat, to buy books on chocolate and desserts, to have a look at an antique collection of "teapots" used exclusively for hot chocolate...

The visit to the exhibition will be enjoyed both by the kids and their parents (especially if they're persons with sweet tooth).

Gardeners’ Season

   Summer is over, but that doesn't mean the gardeners' season is over. It's high time to think about the future planting schemes. Indeed there's a lot to do: decide on new plants to decorate the garden, select plants that flower in the last days of autumn, choose fruit trees, vegetable plants, seeds...

    Looking for less-common, original plants or old varieties? Visit the "Fête des Plantes, fruits et légumes d'hier et d'aujourd'hui", which is held from 9 to 11 November in the heart of Essonne region. These three days you'll be able to get tips from the best European producers, to choose lovely perennial plants, trees and shrubs.

    The topic of this edition is "écrins au jardin" (garden screens). Lots of events are in the list: talks, pruning demonstrations, children's workshops...

    By the way, don't forget to visit the wonderful 17th century vegetable garden. The real garden-lovers will certainly take pleasure in the visit!

    Tennis competitions always attract lots of visitor as these events are truly enthralling sights. Especially when it comes to the competitions of high-level. The BNP Paris is undoubtedly such a tournament. In fact this is the second French capital's biggest tennis event, following the renowned Roland Garros at the porte d'Auteuil.

    Tennis aficionados certainly won't miss the matches featuring Richard Gasquet, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, James Blake and the title holder Nikolay Davindenko.

Last years the hard surface has already witnessed the duels like Leconte-McEnroe (in 1988), Forget-Sampras (in 1991), Safin-Philippoussis (in 2000).

   A must-visit for all tennis admirers! Don't miss the event that will take place from 29 October to 4 November.

   Barbie is the most famous doll on planet. Designers are constantly inventing new Barbie models, accessories, clothes...This time Barbie obtained a new house. Nine French female architects made a 1/6 sized model house which consists of nine pretty rooms. The designers say it's never too late to go back to the childhood, so they are sure that the exhibition will be adored both by the little girls and their mothers.
    In addition, the display presents a collection of clothes for Mademoiselle Barbie, carefully designed by a group of fashion school students. Also some cooking recepies, inspired by the life of the fashionable doll, are presented.

Every month twenty young designers exhibit their works in the Japanese atelier d'artistes at LAFAYETTE A L'ANIS. The system of rotation allows to present new designers and their fashion/accessory collections 12 times a year, giving many freshmen a chance to win the public recognition.
These show-rooms are known for attractive prices and pleasant atmosphere as it's possible to take your time, try the items you like in front of the big mirror, drink a cup of coffee, have a chat with a designer or visit the painting gallery.

Art For Art’s Sake

   The gifted writer, refined connoisseur of art and admirer of beauty Oscar Wilde was the founder of the «New Hedonism». Inspired by the aesthetic teachings of Walter Pater and John Ruskin, Wilde became the center of a group glorifying beauty for itself alone. He is called Prince Paradox for creation of many paradoxes reflecting his views and beliefs.
   Many people of art drew inspiration from his life and works. So did (and in fact does) the famous illusionist dancer Laurent Berreta who stages his incredible show at THEATRE TREVISE since 6 October to 15 December. A perfect blend of choreography and visual effects will take you into the world of beauty, magic and dreams as Laurent Barreta closely follows Wilde's idea that the search for beauty is the main aim in life.
   Laurent Beretta won the Grand Prix Baguette d'Or at the Monte Carlo Magic Festival in 2004. So don't hesitate: come and let the magic take you away!

The Human Saga

   All people reflect on the question of human origin and development. The Musée de l'Homme unveils the mystery. Since 21 February you have a chance to learn the history of anthropological studies over several hundred years: the history of those who have attempted to describe and understand the nature of Man. Different sections are on display: Imaginary men, The original humans, Human communities, Human individuals, Of men and monkeys and The nature of Man. They are illustrated by a wide collection of anthropological and prehistoric articles. More than 500 represented items will help to find the answer to the questions about the initial phase of mankind development.
   The current exhibition is the first episode of a saga. The following displays will take place alongside with the construction of the MUSEE DE L'HOMME.
