Tasty And Fashionable

InterContinental Paris Le Grand2008-03-03

Five years in succession the notion of gastronomy is inseparable from that of fashion in InterContinental Paris Le Grand's Café de la Paix.
After highly successful creations of women designers - Agatha Ruizde la Prada, Stanislassia Klein, Chantal Thomass and Agnes b, who have been creating their masterpieces in 2005-2006, the baton was picked up by men designers - Paco Rabanne, Gaspard Yurkievich and Claude Montana. That gave a title to the collection of desserts-2007 - "Designed by men".

The second collection of trendy desserts is presented this year. The very first masterpiece of 2008 ("Dentelle") was created by Olivie Lapidus. Made from exquisite white chocolate, crowned with finest lace, the dessert is an unforgettable combination of nut praline, chocolate, lemon jelly and subtle bergamot flavor...an irresistible temptation!
You can taste the fashionable sweetie in Café de la Paix from 15 January to 15 May 2008.

Tailor-made champagne

Service offered by Perrier-Jouet champagne house.2008-03-25Champagne connoisseurs might really like the new service offered by one of the French wineries. The Epernay Champagne manor, Perrier-Jouet (1,5 hours from Paris) creates "personal", tailor-made champagne for you. How can this be?

As one might know, the process of champagne-making is a complex thing, which involves various chemical processes and physical intervention. But since the result can vary, why not try to adapt it to one's taste? People arriving to Perrier-Jouet undergo several tests - they touch silk, look at paintings and do many other things. Depending on their reaction, the Cellar Master of Perrier-Jouet defines their "champagne personality" and creates the sparkling drink that suites them best. But note that it takes almost a year for your personal champagne to get 100 % ready. At the same time, you can even co-sign the bottle's label.

Sarkozy wants to change Paris looks

The President challenged a group of architects to think of a new urban project for the city.2008-06-05In one of the recent news about Paris we wrote that the city's La Defense district would get a new skyscraper. The latest news is that the President of France Nicolas Sarkozy seeks a new fundamental change in the city looks.

For this he challenged a group of architects, supported by engineers, city planners, sociologists and even philosophers (there are a total of about 250 people in the team) to think of a new urban project for the city boundaries, transport system, housing, business developments, administrative bodies etc. Sarkozy aide Henri Guaino comments that "The aim is to spawn a new city, like Baron Haussmann did in his day." The Famous civic planner Baron Haussmann rebuilt the capital of France in the 1850s and 60s. The project is set to be elaborated within 6 months.

Currently the city of Paris and the web of smaller towns surrounding it are run by separate bodies, which causes problems with transport policy and other spheres affecting the entire metropolis.
