InterContinental Paris Le Grand awarded with a Green Key
InterContinental Le Grand hotel, the historic gem in the very heart of Paris, has been awarded with a Green Key, the international eco sign which is given to properties that follow sustainable working principles.
InterContinental Le Grand hotel, the historic gem in the very heart of Paris, has been awarded with a Green Key, the international eco sign which is given to properties that follow sustainable working principles.
This award testifies the hotel's numerous initiatives aimed to reduce its footprint, such as the reduction of energy consumption and pollution, and recycling. These measures allowed the hotel to consume 18% less electricity, 26% less water and 15% less paper. InterContinental was also one of the first hotels to start calculating its carbon footprint. Plus, it made some steps to involve its guests into sustainable tourism, encouraging them to use waste sorting bins and providing them with advise on how to be more eco-friendly.

Designer Christmas trees are showcased the the InterContinental hotel
Those who want to feel the Christmas atmosphere should look into InterContinental Paris Le Grand hotel to observe the new collection of designer Christmas trees. Its the fourth year that the hotel organises the exhibition of Christmas trees created by students from the design school "Ecole Superieure Arts Appliques Duperre", one of the world's oldest schools of this kind (opened in 1856). The students will demonstrate their inventiveness and passion for innovation and the results of their work will be judged by a jury of 15. This Christmas collection includes 30 trees and is displayed at the hotel November 24th - January 3rd. Free admission.

Second InterContinental opens in Paris
InterContinental Paris Le Grand - until now, the only existing Intercontinental hotel in Paris - will soon welcome a «sister» hotel in the French capital. Entitled InterContinental Paris Avenue Marceau, the property will boast a location a few steps from the famous Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysees.
Formerly a Crowne Plaza hotel, InterContinental Paris Avenue Marceau will offer 55 rooms and Philippe Starck's design that incorporates classical and urban features. The property occupies three buildings representing three different epochs and has a courtyard. Those always choosing the highest accommodation can check into one of the two penthouse suites, one of which is a terrace suite with a patio overlooking the Eiffel Tower.

Worldwide Hospitality Awards announces winners at the Intercontinental
Intercontinental Paris Le Grand is always in the heart of the latest travel news. For example, November 25th 2009 the hotel's impressive Grand Salon Opéra played host to the Worldwide Hospitality Awards and the ceremony's 800 guests - the major players in the hospitality world, including 200 hotel brands and 10 renown large hotel groups. The ceremony's organizer was MKG Group - the flagship company in tourism marketing studies. Among the winners of the evening were The Pod Hotel New York and MamaShelter Paris hotel (winner at the Best Innovative Concept in Limited Service Hotels category), Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Plaza Athénée Paris for Best Customer Relationship Management and many other hotels and hotel companies.

Meet Mr. Christophe Raoux, the Directeur des cuisines at the InterContinental Paris Le Grand. After working with the world's best known chefs he finds himself, at the age of 38, at this Parisian hotel, which attracts locals and international clientele to its great Cafe de La Paix and La Verrière winter garden. Christophe's former work includes the position of Chief Executive of Groupe Alain Ducasse and collaboration with Michel Roth, Guy Legay, Gerard Besson and others.
